Traditional Wushu, also known as “Kung Fu” has a rich history, tracing back several centuries. Our traditional Wushu program goes over the following:
Huo Style Bajiquan: Nicknamed “bodyguard style,” due its use by the bodyguards of Mao Zedong, Chiang Kai-Shek, and Puyi, the last emperor of China. Bajiquan is known for it’s piercing elbow technique (Ding Zhou) and body checking techniques (Kao). The philosophy of Bajiquan is called “Ai Peng Yi Kao,” keeping the opponent close, sticking to them, pressing against them and then crashing onto them. Huo Style was founded by Huo Diange, who was the teacher of the last emperor of China and the student of 5th Generation Bajiquan Master, “God Spear” Li Shuwen.
Hao Family Taiji Meihua Mantis: Historically a combination of the Taiji and Meihua lineages. Taiji refers to the “Yin-yang” theory of opposite extremes, Meihua refers to the style of execution like the overlapping petals on a lotus flower. Founded by Hao Lianru.
Fu Style Wudang Boxing: Founded by Fu Zhensong, most famous for its Baguazhang, it also comprises of Taijiquan, Xingyiquan, and Bajiquan. Fu Zhensong lived in the era where martial artists from every corner of China exchanged skills.
